Why haiku?

Since I started this blog a few months ago, I have written several haiku poems. What is up with that?!? I had never written a haiku in my entire life and suddenly I have the desire to write these little poems every other week or so. Bizarre.

I don't know why I am writing them or even if I am doing it correctly, aside from the 5-7-5 syllable rule. If they suck I imagine they will get better. Hopefully you are enjoying them. If you have any tips on haiku, I am all ears.
